Two years ago, when we first opened Ferncrest, we made what we now realize was a misstep.
We started with 5-meter (16-foot) domes, cozy enough for a small family—but quickly learned they just weren’t big enough for everyone.
Families are core to our community, and we inadvertently excluded larger families (including our own!) by offering accommodations that maxed out at four people. If you’ve ever traveled with three or more kids, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
But here’s the good news: we listened, we learned, and we’re growing.
Designing our Family Domes
Next week, we’re officially launching our new Family Domes (7-meter), comfortably sleeping up to six guests. Imagine this: a spacious dome featuring a king-sized bed, fold-out couch, chic breakfast area, and an apartment-style fridge.
Add in the perfect amenities—a microwave, pour-over coffee setup, and yes, even air conditioning and heating tested personally by yours truly this week (spoiler alert: they’re awesome).
And let’s talk design for a second:
The domes feature high ceilings and a stunning Sputnik chandelier that elevates the entire space, blending style with functionality perfectly.
Our 30-Day Family Dome Challenge
To celebrate this new chapter, we’ve set an ambitious internal goal:
$10,000 in Family Dome bookings in the first 30 days.
We’re documenting the whole journey of how we hope to accomplish this challenge — from furnishing and photography, to website listings, social media pushes, and paid ads.
Best of all… the behind-the-scenes content of this challenge will become a YouTube video, and we’ll share every step along the way.
We’re expecting these new domes to be a game changer, with an ADR around $300, reflecting their size and amenities. But as every glampreneur knows, nothing is guaranteed until the bookings roll in.
